Technology for Change: Loudsauce

Loudsauce Ows Ad Loudsauce is a crowd funding platform that takes a different approach than other crowd funding platforms like Kickstarter, which funds creative projects. Loudsauce amplifies the message of organizations and causes through mainstream advertising campaigns, bringing the message to a much wider audience. Loudsauce’s vision is, “to transform the medium of advertising from one that primarily drives consumption to one of civic participation”.

Campaigns on Loudsauce set a deadline and a fundraising goal. People pledge funds, and if the campaign goals are met, the advertising campaign gets funded. Recently, the campaign to “Help this #occupy video reach millions of Americans on TV” met and exceeded its crowd funding goals, raising over $6,000 from 168 pledges. The ad started as a YouTube video that compiles statements from a diverse group of Occupy Wall Street protesters. The funds raised on Loudsauce will bring the ad to millions of viewers, running during Seinfeld re-runs and on ESPN just like any other commercial. This campaign continues, now seeking to run three more TV spots. Watch the ad here!
