Singlebrook Poetry!!

I recently went to an American Sustainable Business Council event in the Hamptons where I met a consulting poet: Mariposa Fernandez. She said that she creates poetry for businesses and that she was working on some poetry for the sustainable business movement. It's not often that I hear about businesses embracing poetry as part of their communications strategy. It seems like an innovative approach that could have some potential. I discussed the idea with my 7-year old daughter, Louisa and she was so inspired that she immediately wrote several poems for Singlebrook! Here are three of them, exactly as she typed them into my iPhone. I've also included a photo of the author, standing next to the street with her name in New Orleans.

Louisa At Louisa And Dauphine

Ringing singing Singlebrook ,
If we 're in peril,
Or on the hook,
Creative smarts really are a must,
We think"Coding-based world or bust!"

Singlebrook is just the thing,
To make your financial hopes spring,
If you're doing good things ,
We can make you the king ,
Using techno to make the world ring!

Each business has its pros ,
Each business has its cons,
Each business has creative smarts,
Each business has its fronds.
Uncurling slowly,later to grow,
And a business grows from each
seed it may throw .

Let me know what you think. Should businesses find more artistic ways to communicate about their mission and values, including the use of poetry?

(Note: The two "creative smarts" references come from the new bestseller Heart, Smarts, Guts and Luck, which my daughter was reading with me.)
