Technology for Change: Call2Action
Upon visiting the Call2Action website, one can immediately identify this organization as proactive; a real “go getter.” It’s a group that strives to “see change ignite” and vows to “Spark a movement” of social issue campaigns. From the looks of it, the people at Call2Action stay true to their word. As apparent from numerous samples of feedback, exceptional brand image and success stories, Call2Action’s ability to Spark movements through video, action, and social media tools exemplifies the powerful impact that T4C exists to spotlight.
Call2Action leads by example in terms of encouraging environmental, social, ethical and fiscal responsibility. It seeks to use technology in an effort to raise awareness and promote engagement in worthwhile causes. Call2Action has a widget that can be used with any video which allows viewers to take action on behalf of the causes they care about at the moment when they are most engaged with the issue. Any “viewer” can become a “doer” by selecting one or more “action tools” from the widget. Action tools include posting campaign videos, donating money, pledging support, leading discussions, promoting events, etc.
One notable example of Call2Action’s success is visible in the case of their client, Gasland, which received a nomination for a 2011 Oscar in the full documentary category! Gasland chronicled communities in the United States affected by natural gas drilling, specifically hydrofracking. Gasland had an interaction rate of 51.9% in the first week, thanks to Call2Action’s widget.
There are many other remarkable case studies like Gasland throughout the Call2Action website. For example, two clients raised $50,000 in donations, earning an astonishing 50% ROI. Many other clients have seen their Sparks ignite through blogger networks. Call2Action boasts an impressive client list that includes: Do Something, P&G, NRDC, Feeding America, March of Dimes, Lee Jeans, Chrysler, Best Friends Society, P&G, Oceana, numerous Participant Media films, 3 documentary Oscar nominees and others.
With an impressive average interaction rate (38%) that is nine times the industry standard, Call2Action clearly displays the potential for high impact! This means that 38 actions are taken for every 100 times widgets are loaded on the site. Call2Action encourages people to participate by making it quick and easy to contribute to the causes about which they are passionate.
